Dr. Martha B. Koo, M.D., LFAPA, FCTMSS, FASAM, is a board-certified psychiatrist, addiction medicine specialist, psychoanalyst, and certified psychedelic-assisted therapist.
She completed undergraduate studies at Princeton University, medical training at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, psychiatry residency at the UCLA Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior, psychoanalytic training at the New Center for Psychoanalysis, psychedelic-assisted therapy certification with the California Institute of Integral Studies, and the MAPS MDMA Therapy Training Program for MDMA-assisted therapy for PTSD.
For three decades, Dr. Koo has practiced outpatient psychotherapy, psychoanalysis, and pharmacological treatment. A pioneer in the development and application of Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), she opened Southern California's first private TMS center in 20091 — which evolved into Neuro Wellness Spa — and went on to serve as President of the Clinical TMS Society (2024–2025)2.
She is a Founder and Chief Medical Officer at Neuro Wellness Spa3. With a strong background in human psychodynamics, psychological theory, psychiatric medicine, and neuroscience, Dr. Koo has dedicated her career to community, academic, and professional advocacy for the advancement of psychiatric treatment — to increase access and awareness of the most effective, personalized mental health interventions.
She is a passionate advocate for the use of novel treatment interventions for mental health. In her free time, Dr. Koo enjoys yoga, chess, playing the violin, hiking, and travel.
